#044 Networking Secrets Part 1: Who, What, Why

Love it, hate it or tolerate it, networking is an activity that can profoundly impact our personal lives and careers. Networking is also a muscle that gets stronger and becomes more effective the more you engage it. ?

What comes to mind when you think of the word, “Networking”?

Maybe you have a fond memory of a fun networking event, or maybe you remember the lukewarm coffee from the convention center during a stale conference.

I want to challenge your thoughts about networking a little bit, since so many people attach the concept of networking with trying to connect with people who can help you get a job…

But the truth is…Networking is a long game of nurturing, and can have soooo many more benefits than just opening up job opportunities.

In Part 1 of this series all about networking as an NP, we’re covering:

  • A refreshing definition on Networking and an important distinction on expectations that is too often left out of the conversation.
  • What kinds of amazing benefits can be co-created from having an authentic connection with someone… I share a personal story on how an online relationship led me to be considered for a great opportunity.
  • The secret power that networking can have on boosting your self-confidence!

I also share an exercise that you can do today to brainstorm and leverage your existing connections.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of Networking Secrets – all on how to establish and deepen relationships with people in your network – dropping next week!
