It’s 2020, the Year of the Nurse, and many nurses will be looking for a first or new job this year. This comes as no surprise, but compared to the last few decades, those beginning the job search in 2020 have a few more things to consider to gain that competitive edge.
Living in a digital world is an advantage in many ways — and not just because of Netflix and Instacart. Having so much to learn right at our fingertips is invaluable. But to ignore the disadvantages of a digitized job market would be unwise.
In today’s episode, I talk about how we might be avoiding the hidden market (shhh…it’s a secret. But it doesn’t have to be!), how online job boards widen the pool of competition, and how applying to jobs online can lull us into a passive state as we batch send our resumes out to companies without personalizing our application for each mission.
Considering these obstacles and incorporating strategies to combat them will ultimately help you stand out, connect directly with the decision-makers, and land that job you’re going after. And that’s what we’re all about!
